Noorderzon has been working with various leaseholders from Groningen and beyond for more than 20 years. They supply various commodities, ranging from candy floss to Indonesian meals. A large number of these entrepreneurs have been involved with Noorderzon right from the very beginning.

Although Noorderzon has grown substantially in the past 20 years, the Noorderplantsoen park has not. Accordingly, the number of leaseholders has remained more or less constant for several years. We are largely satisfied with this situation and are happy to prolong it. In addition, Noorderzon is a cultural festival for everyone and the assortment of wares ought to reflect this diversity.

Because we do not wish ‘to reinvent the wheel’ every year and because we are engaged in building up sustainable relations, we give existing leaseholders priority in the assignation of the available market stalls – as long as the public continues to appreciate them. This does not mean, of course, that we never change anything and that a location never becomes available for new initiatives. It does mean, however, that there are few new market stalls to be allocated every year.
