A festival by the name of Noorderzon was first organized in 1991. It was a combination of a successful local festival that presented Sunday music programmes at different locations in the city centre of Groningen, together with a subdivision of festival ‘De Parade’. Now – 20 years later – Noorderzon has expanded to an international arts manifestation that attracts over 135.000 visitors, and is well known beyond the Dutch borders. A lot has happened in the past twenty years.

Programme 1991 - 2011
In 2010 we celebrated our 20th anniversary by reconstructing our history. In this part of our website you'll find the programme-magazines of 1991 to 2000 and those of 2001 to 2011, also often accompanied by a website.

Co-productions
In 2008 we've started co-producing international work together with our main partners Grand Theatre Groningen. It concerns new performances by groups and theatre makers like chelfitsch (Japan), Stalker Theatre (Australia), Radiohole (US) and Zachary Oberzan (US). Noorderzon-wiki
In 2010 we've also started with a Noorderzon-wiki that we like to develope in the coming years. Here you can read a start, but it's only in dutch at the moment.
