Shake a leg and listen up to Baloji
When Baloji’s stepmother burned his fashion design sketches, he decided at a young age to become a poet instead. Baloji was born in Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but was raised in industrial city of Liège. His fourth solo album 137 AVENUE KANIAMA was released this year, featuring an intriguing mix of hip-hop and afrobeat. His appearance still betrays he is a fashion connoisseur at heart, and combined with his irrepressible energy, the show should be as intense as it is colourful.

“He is an energetic, engaging and highly original artist, with a confused jumble of styles that reflect his own history”

- Robin Denselow, The Guardian
