Virtuoso hip hop appeal for freedom of movement
Energetic, confrontational, with no holds barred: Bruno Beltrão is back! In 2009, Beltrão and his Grupo de Rúa already managed to make a massive impression at Noorderzon with their explosive dance performance H3. This year the Brazilian hip hop virtuoso and choreographer will be opening the 28th edition of the festival. After already having spectacularly revolutionised the hip hop dance vocabulary, with Inoah the young Beltrão once again brings the street to the stage. In a performance practically crackling with electricity, ten dancers reconnoitre the boundaries between hip hop, break dancing and modern dance. Set against the backdrop of corrupt Brazilian street life, they seek out their place. Initially hesitantly, literally groping in the dark, until the incredible tension explodes into a riot of leaps & bounds, flips and headspins. Inspired by global mass migration, Inoah is both an intelligent appeal for freedom of movement, as well as a creative protest against the restrictions arising from closed borders.

“It is a sketched sketch of urban life and what young people can experience there: confrontation, encounter, amusement, cheerfulness, aggression, loneliness, common ground. (…) HipHop at its finest”
