Entrancingly acrobatic jungle adventure
They emerge from the darkness: five acrobats and a musician. A trapeze swings while whistling resounds, resembling birds in a tropical rain forest. And then: bodies start to tumble. They creep, jump, explore and flutter. They transform into spiders, tree frogs and birds-of-paradise. Is this a circus performance? Dance? Theatre? Fauna is all of this and more. It certainly comes as no surprise that this multidisciplinary, internationally renowned ensemble has raked in awards. The five young acrobats, who met at the most famous circus school in the world in Sweden, transport you to a world where human and animal instincts vie for supremacy. Fauna is a flying journey through the competitive jungle of ritual mating, Machiavellian cleverness and the sheer joy of performance. With a choreography inspired by animal behaviour, humans and animals merge on stage into beastly personas, offset by an entrancing live soundtrack of percussion and guitar.
“Still buzzing at the sheer athleticism of the acrobats, the beauty of what they were able to express with their bodies, and the mesmerising soundtrack”
