600 HIGHWAYMEN | The Fever

The audience in the leading role

600 HIGHWAYMEN has become a Noorderzon mainstay because the group guarantees remarkable theatre in seek of authenticity on stage. Previously the New York theatre makers Abigail Browde and Michael Silverstone brought 45 inhabitants of Groningen to the stage for one of their productions, The Record. In The Fever the two go a step further, with the audience co-responsible for the performance. With the audience as performers, Browde and Silverstone address how we relate to each other as individuals and how we interact with the people around us. Do you just observe, or do you play along? Do you play solo or with others? And do you play yourself or do you present yourself as someone different? And do we as individuals still dare to take mutual responsibility for something larger than ourselves?

“A lovely, haunting meditation on human connection, and disconnection … a poetic evocation of our mostly unspoken –– and un-called upon –– dependence on one another.”
