Allah-Las

Melancholy sixties sound
Sand between your toes, waves crashing in the distance: the sixties sound of American band Allah-Las makes you feel like you're in sunny California. The three men no doubt listened closely to the iconic bass riffs of The Byrds and the heavy reverb of The Beach Boys, but with three successful albums to date, the Allah-Las have proven to be an extremely original band. Because somewhere amidst the keyboards and maracas, a more sinister, lonely sound shimmers, one we know from garage bands and alternative rock (think The Velvet Underground or The Strokes). Expect a deliciously melancholy, almost psychedelic sound, perfectly suited for a sultry summer evening at Noorderzon.

“There are more than a few bands hell-bent on exhuming and reinventing the past. Few are as adept as the Allah-Las.”
