Unique and intimate dance between two renowned choreographers
They are utterly different, wise to the world, and both are famous across the globe. After the success of Irish dancer Colin Dunne's sublime performance Concert on Noorderzon last year, in Session he joins forces with the great Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, one of the world's most original and productive contemporary choreographers. Despite essential differences in their backgrounds and styles, together they embark on an endearing, humourous, but above all virtuoso, voyage of discovery as to what ultimately connects them. Session seeks the boundaries between motion and music, between looking and listening. Aided by the mesmerizing compositions of Michael Gallen and musician Soumik Datta, the performance weaves its way between elegance and absurdity. Session is a four-part sound and movement landscape that molds together melodic-eccentric percussive dance, lavishly embellished Irish song, great stories and dance in its purest form.
