Edurne Rubio | Light years away

A journey of discovery through the dark
Welcome to the gloom of an undiscovered cave. Explorers, tourists, guides, primitive peoples, cave drawings. They all are concealed somewhere in the unknown space until illuminated by our burning torch. Until then the space only exists in our imagination. The father and uncles of film and theatre maker Edurne Rubio were amateur speleologists and discovered one of the biggest caves in Spain. She thus became fascinated by caves as evocative spaces where in the dark history lies in wait. Places that speak to both the individual and the collective imagination. In Light years away Rubio takes you on a journey of discovery through the theatre gloom, as if it were a cave waiting to be explored. Allow your eyes to slowly adjust to the dark. Listen closely and let your imagination do the rest.

"Rubio is interested in the relationship between architecture and nature: how man and animal have brought light, literally as well as figuratively, into this piece of underground darkness."

- Michaël Bellon, BRUZZ
