Nomads’ stories, meditative desert blues, funk and Tuareg rock
The young brother of Tuareg rock pioneer Tinariwen will be performing at Het Dok this summer. Young brothers all tend to grow, and that's certainly the case with Imarhan. The band is playing a pivotal role in the development of Tuareg desert blues by experimenting with funk, fuzz and disco. The newly released album Temet truly reflects Imarhan's maturity. With their music, they are schooling new generations inside and outside the Algerian musical world on the importance of friendship, the wisdom of older generations and a strong community. Meditative desert blues with a fresh breeze of funk, disco and wise lessons for life wafting through them!
“Even in a less-than-full basement on a sodden Scottish night, they conjure up an alluring mood of campfire conviviality and bluesy soul-searching.”
