Love makes you vulnerable
Maybe you prefer to bury yourself beneath the covers when you're heartbroken, lie staring at the ceiling, or soak your pillow in tears. But there are also people who manage to transform such miserable moments into something beautiful. Take Groningen visual artist Jaime Ibanez, whose performance I started a secondhand shop with all the things I told you when I was in love will premiere at Noorderzon. In this musical performance, together with multi-instrumentalist Jornt Duyx and actor Jan Bart Noordhuis, Ibanez embarks on a quest to search out the various guises that a broken heart can take on to reveal itself. Using fragile objects and installations which are operated by hand, Jaime shows that love makes you vulnerable, but that the accompanying sadness is a good subject to base absurd theatrical performances on.
