Marthe Walvoort | So what is sugar actually?

Everyone has heard of it and most people thinks it tastes good: sugar! A lump of sugar in tea, a scoop on a slice of bread, a lot of it in the batter for a cake. But did you know that a potato is built up from sugars, and that the pages of a book are too? Sugars come in all shapes and sizes, and they’re not just in your food. And while everyone knows that you shouldn’t have too many sugary snacks, some sugars are actually healthy. Marthe Walvoort is a researcher and lecturer at the University of Groningen and is specialised in the chemistry of sugar molecules. During this children’s lecture she will be introducing you to the wonderful world of sugars.
