Penny takes on ‘the golden age of stupidity’

Who is doing so? Penny Arcade might be a relatively unknown name in the Netherlands, but in the United States she’s a star of the New York underground scene. And she has been since 1967. She started out in experimental theatre, made movies with Andy Warhol as a teenager, put on her own shows and was a performance artist. She may be slightly older these days, but still takes the world by storm. Her signature stand-up show Longing Lasts Longer puts her rock ‘n’ roll energy to use in her battle against what she refers to as ‘the golden age of stupidity’. She combines sharp satire with material inspired by four decades of pop culture, organising a humorous and danceable theatrical fest in the Spiegeltent. The party she puts on was one of the highlights of the prestigious festival in Edinburgh last year.

"The smartest, most quotable theatrical party in town”
