In search of the music of Antarctica
With the experimental, multi-instrumental performance Polar Force, Noorderzon offers you a mid-summer music journey through wintry Antarctic landscapes. In a specially built inflatable space, you will feel set free on an Antarctic ice floe, where the beauty and endless complexity of the continent are unveiled around you. Speak Percussion combine original sound recordings collected from the region with live percussion, although not a single traditional drum is used. The result is an intense, meditative landscape that will not only impell you to reasses your relationship with nature and the climate, but also to investigate human fragility and existential solitude from the perspective of one of the most frigid, windy and arid continents on earth. Polar Force is a hauntingly beautiful listening experience.
