Brilliant storytelling conveys brutal everyday reality
Simultaneously funny, sweet and brutal. Carnaval will take you on a journey tracking the stories of children from across the world, all outcasts of society. The children seen searching through rubble for something to eat, ones arriving parentless at border crossings, far removed from everything good, beautiful and prosperous. In endearing and playful fashion, Chilean Teatro Anónimo gives them a voice – brilliantly portrayed by three adults – reflecting children's typical resilience and candidness. Anyone who has ever celebrated Carnival will recognise the temporary disappearance of hierarchies, the standing still of time and the dream-like experiences this can induce. Bearing this in mind, with humour, music, song and dance, director Trinidad Gónzalez has created a bittersweet collage of painful realities. Bold Latin American storytelling, in a refined melange of light and dark.

“A very special experience, whose name conveys an event, an atmosphere and a cultural dimension that includes music and dance, as well as the humor that surfaces at even the saddest moments”
