Noorderzon announces first music acts
From jazz to soul and from Brazilian tropicália to Texas blues: present a wide variety of music genres. Enjoy concerts by Boy Azooga, Durand Jones & The Indications, Golden Dawn Arkestra and Joe Armon-Jones on the freely accessible Het Dok stage! Charley Crockett and Stampestuen will perform in the Spiegeltent. More names in our expansive music programme follow soon!

Het Dok
On this spectacular stage located in the pond of the Noorderplantsoen, you have the opportunity to watch twelve different (inter)national bands during eleven days of Noorderzon. This August, among other acts soon to be announced, you can enjoy the performance of Boy Azooga (UK): he combines krautrock and 70s synth-pop with Beach Boys influences and creates his own, fresh sound. Durand Jones & The Indications (USA) present their easy-to-recognize themes together with their own interpretation of 70s soul music. Het Dok’s opening performance is the twelve headed musical creature called Golden Dawn Arkestra (USA) performing a variety of music genres such as disco, soul, psych rock and Brazilian tropicália. Also performing at Noorderzon is Joe Armon-Jones (UK). Joe is a British producer and a well-known keyboard virtuoso in the jazz-scene of London.

Spiegeltent
The cosy and atmospheric Spiegeltent in the Noorderplantsoen will host two other interesting acts. Charley Crockett (USA), who started performing on the street corners of New Orleans and in the metro stations of New York City, is an adventurous musician. Therefore it is only befitting that he shares the name of the legendary American adventurer Davy Crockett. Texas blues, cajun music and bluntly honest messages, what else could we ask for in life? Furthermore, Noorderzon and Stichting Folk present Stampestuen: Norwegian musicians who have backgrounds in jazz, pop and folk music. Armed with authentic instruments like the ‘psalmodicon’ and the ‘dulcimer , this group shares real stories of 19th century Norwegians who left for the New World.
