Basic hip-hop and amapiano grooves

Step onto the dance floor and discover the basic groove of hip-hop and South African amapiano. During this accessible workshop, Tara and Fortune will teach you the groove of both styles. No complicated choreography, just moving freely, feeling the music, and learning new moves you can use on the dance floor right away.

After the workshop, the DJ keeps the music going and the space turns into a laid-back social dance: time to try out your new (or old) moves! An evening full of music, dance, connection, and good vibes, organized by X_YUSUF_BOSS and BRAAI.

X_YUSUF_BOSS is an interdisciplinary dance company from Groningen that connects contemporary dance with hip-hop culture, music, and social narratives. Guided by the core values of Each One Teach One and Ubuntu, we believe in the power of sharing knowledge, building community, and mutual growth.

BRAAI is a recurring amapiano and afrobeats party at Simplon that brings the energetic club culture of South Africa to Groningen. The music style is a unique mix of amapiano - a sound full of deep house, jazz, and kwaito straight from the townships of Johannesburg - combined with the hottest afrobeats and afrohouse tunes of the moment.
