S1RE (Stephen Rutayisire) is a multidisciplinary artist from Groningen with Rwandan and Burundian roots. His work moves between music, performance and storytelling, drawing on inner conflict, untold family histories and emotions that are hard to put into words. What isn't said, is sung. What hurts, gets rhythm.
Hit the North is the leading talent development programme for artists in the Northern Netherlands. Participants in Hit the North take part in intensive bootcamps, workshops and coaching sessions focused on artistic growth and business skills. The goal for participants is to progress to regional and national stages after completing the programme. One performance takes place at ESNS, and another at one of the Bevrijdingsfestivals in the Northern Netherlands.
