It takes a village

Jonge Harten Festival x Noorderzon

It takes a village to raise a child. A place where you are seen, where people listen to you, and where you can turn to when things aren’t going smoothly. But what does such a village look like in a world that is becoming increasingly complex?

How can we work together to create opportunities for young people?

Under the banner ‘It Takes a Village’, the Jonge Harten Festival and Noorderzon are joining forces to explore how we can work together to create space for mental health, social interaction and connection. Not by telling young people what to do, but by standing alongside them and listening to what they need.

Art and culture can play an important role in this: festivals and cultural venues are the modern village squares where people meet, share stories and discover new perspectives. Young people are not just visitors here, but active participants who are helping to shape the world around them.

On Wednesday 26 August, we’ll be bringing together young people, creators, teachers, family members and support workers for an interactive session. We’ll share experiences, explore what’s needed and look at how we can work together to build a community where everyone can take part.
