MATOYA is a neo-soul band from Groningen, the Netherlands, united by a shared love for old-school R&B, soul, and honest storytelling. Coming from different cultural backgrounds, the five musicians found common ground in music and built a sound that blends warm grooves, rich harmonies, and heartfelt lyrics.
Meeting through their conservatory years, the band draws inspiration from jazz, funk, hip-hop, gospel, and contemporary soul. For MATOYA, genres are simply different colors on the same palette – "the only wrong choice is a dishonest one."
