Weird Youth is the solo project of musician and songwriter Harmen Ridderbos. After years of being active with projects like Town of Saints, Electropoëzie, CAW CAW and collaborations with Melle Leyten, he's now taking a more personal direction. On debut album Season One, Ridderbos explores the complexity of love, making room for both euphoria and moral ambiguity. The record was recorded entirely in his own studio on an 8-track cassette recorder, with him playing every instrument himself, resulting in a rawer, more direct sound. Musically, Weird Youth draws on the tradition of 1970s artists like Neil Young and The Band, with subtle influences of 1990s indie rock, as a backdrop for intimate and deeply lived stories.
